AND IRANIAN PAINTING
In 2020, against the stunning backdrop of the Shah Mosque in Isfahan, Iran, I brought to life a captivating video mapping project that blended light with Iranian painting. Using various software, this project animated a narrative from the Isfahan school painting, creating a mesmerizing spectacle on the mosque's wall. Inspired by Bahram V's hunting painting, the scenes were carefully crafted with rich colors like jade green and indigo, echoing the school's palette. This project not only honored the Isfahan school's legacy but also pushed artistic boundaries by merging tradition with modern technology in a visually enchanting display.

The chosen narrative, adapted from the renowned Iranian painting of Bahram V, unfolded in ten mesmerizing scenes. These scenes depicted Bahram Gor's adventurous journey into the forest, where he engaged in both a hunt and a battle with a formidable lion. The project was a performance, a visual storytelling extravaganza projected onto the mosque's wall.

The genesis of this project sprang from a personal fascination with light, leading to the exploration of video mapping technology as the ideal conduit for transforming graphic concepts into luminous displays. The intricate study involved blending graphic and light elements, meticulously aligning with the Isfahan school painting's color schemes and compositions.

After extensive research, the painting of Bahram Gor emerged as the ideal choice for its vibrant hues—jade green, indigo, and light brown—setting the tone for the forest space. The dome, representing the sky, adorned a golden hue, mirroring the prevalent theme in the Isfahan school paintings.

Clouds, depicted in a spiral formation, echoed the snail compositions found in the Isfahan school's depictions of the sky. The characters were chosen in harmony with the paintings, mirroring the scattered compositions and vibrant colors of Bahram Gore—orange, indigo, mustard, and light blue.

On the right side of the narrative, an urban space unfolded, paying homage to the original compositions and color combinations of the Isfahan school. The city gates, depicted at the story's beginning, were crafted in alignment with the school's artistic legacy.

This project stands as a testament to the fusion of technology, graphic design, and traditional Iranian art, creating a luminous narrative that breathed life into the historic walls of the Shah Mosque.
